AS 16.05.404. Transferability of Hunting Permits Awarded by Drawing.

   (a) The department may transfer or reissue a hunting permit for a hunt that was originally awarded to a resident by drawing established by the Board of Game under AS 16.05.255(a) to a qualified substitute, if the person to whom the hunting permit was originally awarded has died and the person's spouse, or if there is no spouse, an immediate family member of the decedent,
        (1) applies for the hunting permit to be transferred or reissued to a qualified substitute named in the application; and
        (2) provides proof acceptable to the department of the person's death.
   (b) To qualify as a substitute under this section, an individual must be a state resident.
   (c) An application to transfer or reissue a hunting permit under this section may be made only before the end of the period during which the hunting permit is valid.
   (d) A hunting permit may only be transferred or reissued under this section to a substitute who is qualified under the conditions that applied to the person to whom the hunting permit was originally awarded. A hunting permit may be transferred or reissued under this section only for the specific hunt for which the permit was originally awarded.
   (e) In this section, “immediate family member” means a parent, sibling, or child related by blood, marriage, or adoption.
