(a) Searches of individual prisoners must be reasonably related to the security interests of the facility.
(b) Prisoners are subject to a frisk search by facility staff at any time.
(c) A prisoner is subject to a strip search, by a staff member who, except under exigent circumstances, must be the same sex as the prisoner being searched,
(1) upon initial admission;
(2) upon apprehension from an escape or attempted escape;
(3) upon initial admission to segregation;
(4) upon re-entry to a facility after leaving the security perimeter or grounds;
(5) at the conclusion of a contact visit;
(6) upon returning from a classroom or area where tools were present or in use, or other similar circumstances;
(7) upon return from the grounds of a facility which are accessible for the introduction of contraband, and other similar circumstances; and
(8) at any time there exists a reasonable basis to conclude the prisoner is in possession of contraband.
(d) A prisoner is subject to a body cavity search if probable cause exists to conclude that the prisoner possesses contraband inside a body cavity. A body cavity search will be conducted by medical personnel in the presence of a correctional officer of the same sex as the prisoner being searched.
