Title 20 . Miscellaneous Boards and Commissions
Chapter 15 . Mental Health Trust Authority
Section 720. ASEL alternative application process

20 AAC 15.720. ASEL alternative application process

(a) A student requesting an ASEL to attend a school other than a FFELP eligible school, a student found by the United States Department of Education to be ineligible for participation in the FFELP, or a student who is unable to complete the FAFSA must complete the ASEL alternative application process set out in this section.

(b) A student using the ASEL alternative application must certify, on a form published by the commission, that the student is not eligible for an AlaskAdvantage loan. In that form, the commission will advise the student that because of the student's failure to seek eligibility for a FFELP, the student

(1) foregoes access to Pell grant and other aid available under 20 U.S.C. 1001 - 1155 (Higher Education Act of 1965);

(2) foregoes access to borrower benefits only available through the FFELP; and

(3) acknowledges that the student is advised that the institution is not accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the secretary, if the ineligibility arises from the student's attendance at that institution.

(c) The provisions of 20 AAC 15.715(c) - (i) will be applied to the ASEL alternative application process.
