The following subjects shall be covered and are the minimum acceptable amount of instruction for industrial radiographers:
(1) fundamentals of radiation safety:
(A) characteristics of gamma and X-radiation;
(B) units of ionizing radiation dose and quantity of radioactivity;
(C) hazards of excessive exposure of ionizing radiation; and
(D) methods of controlling ionizing radiation dose (time, distance and shielding);
(2) ionizing radiation detection instrumentation to be used:
(A) use of survey instruments including operation, calibration and limitation;
(B) survey techniques; and
(C) use of personnel monitoring equipment;
(3) operation and control of the radiographic equipment to be used;
(4) the requirements of pertinent federal and state regulations;
(5) the registrant's written operating and emergency procedures.
