(a) Based upon recommendations from the committee under 18 AAC 66.030, and subject to the total amount of appropriations available each year, for each group established under 18 AAC 66.030(b) , the department will grant
(1) one or more waste reduction and recycling outstanding awards, each not to exceed $2,000;
(2) one or more waste reduction and recycling achievement awards, each not to exceed $1,000; and
(3) one or more waste reduction and recycling honorable mention awards, each not to exceed $100.
(b) The department will, in its discretion, based upon the number of applications received and the appropriations available for awards, grant the awards listed in (a) of this section by geographic region, by student population, or on a statewide basis.
(c) Selected award recipients will be notified by the commissioners of education and environmental conservation.
