(a) Buildings and premises must be free of hazards, including splintered surfaces, sharp edges, protruding corners, broken or hazardous toys, steep stairways, ice and snow on walkways, and unsafe play areas. The department will, in its discretion, require the immediate removal of a hazardous object or condition.
(b) Firearms must be unloaded and stored in a place inaccessible to children and to adults with impaired judgment. Ammunition must be stored separately in a place inaccessible to children and to adults with impaired judgment.
(c) Outdoor areas must be well-drained and free from deep depressions which may collect standing water.
(d) The department will, in its discretion, require outdoor recreation areas at day care centers, pre-elementary schools, and residential child care facilities to be protected with a fence at least three feet high or with another equally effective barrier.
(e) Germicides and insecticides may not be used in the presence of children.
(f) If glass is used in bathing facility enclosures and doors, the glass must bear a label stating that the glass meets the requirements of the American National Safety Standards Institute Standard Z-97.1-1972.
(g) Poisonous or dangerous substances and compounds must be identified and kept in storage areas which are inaccessible to children and to adults with impaired judgment.
