(a) Room temperature in a facility must be maintained between 65 degrees F. and 74 degrees F., measured 12 inches from the floor in day care centers, pre-elementary schools, and residential child care facilities, and measured 36 inches from the floor in adult residential care facilities.
(b) Heating units and other devices which employ a flame must be vented to the outside. Vents or stacks leading from a heating unit must be air-tight at joints so that fumes, smoke, or unburned gases cannot pass from the device, vent, or stack into the facility.
(c) Heat sources must be shielded in a manner which prevents burn injury. The shield must be far enough from the heat source to prevent it from smoldering or burning.
(d) Portable electric heaters must be equipped with tip-over switches and must be kept out of the reach of children or of adults with impaired judgment.
