(a) A facility operator shall ensure that the facility has sanitary installations and accommodations which comply with (b) - (k) of this section.
(b) Except as otherwise provided in this section, toilets and lavatories must be installed and maintained as provided by 18 AAC 30.630 - 18 AAC 30.650.
(c) Toilets and lavatories must be available in the ratio of one toilet and one hand-wash sink for each 15 children in day care centers and pre-elementary schools and for each six persons in residential facilities. Urinals may be substituted for not more than one-half the required number of toilets.
(d) Step stools, if provided in toilet areas, must have nonslip treads made of a water-impervious, durable material.
(e) Bathing facilities with hot and cold water must be available in the ratio of one tub or shower for each six persons in residential facilities.
(f) If self-closing faucets are used, they must be of a metering type designed to allow a flow of water of at least a 10-second duration.
(g) Hot-water temperature controls must be provided and maintained so that hot water delivered to plumbing fixtures is not less than 100 degrees F. and not more than 120 degrees F.
(h) In residential child care and adult residential care facilities, individual hand towels may be used at lavatories if they are returned to the occupant's room after each use.
(i) If a facility does not have a water supply sufficient for flush toilets, toilets must be approved by the department.
(j) Partitions in toilet rooms must be raised at least 12 inches from the floor and must be smooth, durable, and easily cleanable.
(k) Toilets and hand-wash sinks must be cleaned and sanitized at least daily. Floors and walls must be kept clean at all times.
