Title 17 . Transportation and Public Facilities
Chapter 70 . Miscellaneous Provisions
Section 160. Cleated or tracked vehicles

17 AAC 70.160. Cleated or tracked vehicles

Tracked or cleated equipment will not be accepted over terminals and vessels of the ferry system unless mounted on a truck or other appropriate conveyance. In the event that such loading results in a total weight in excess of limitations for any particular terminal or vessel, a sufficient amount of equipment must be removed to allow conformity with the existing weight limitation. Such equipment when removed must be transported in or on another vehicle at regular published fares for that vehicle. An exception is allowed for cleated or tracked vehicles being transported on the M/V Tustumena. Such vehicles, in conformity with existing weight restrictions, will be handled over terminals and aboard the Tustumena when operated under their own power. Owner must provide adequate planking and blocking and provide labor for placing same at both terminals and aboard the vessel to ensure that no damage to decks results from such handling or transporting. A surcharge is published for the transport of cleated or tracked vehicles under these procedures.
