(a) The department, in consultation with the Alaska Veterans' Advisory Council established under AS 44.35 and appropriate veterans' organizations, will award grants for the maintenance, repair, replacement, and enhancement of, or addition to, veterans' memorials and monuments to the military, and for the development and construction of new veterans' memorials and monuments to the military, in accordance with AS 37.14.700 - 37.14.740 and this chapter.
(b) The department, in consultation with the Alaska Veterans' Advisory Council and appropriate veterans' organizations, may periodically establish recommended priorities for the maintenance, repair, replacement, and enhancement of, or addition to, veterans' memorials and monuments to the military, and for the development and construction of new veterans' memorials and monuments to the military.
