The staff at a designated facility shall make a reasonable effort to determine whether a patient committed under AS 47.30 has made a declaration of preferences or instructions regarding mental health treatment under AS 47.30.950 - 47.30.980 by consulting the patient, the patient's health care provider, the patient's spouse or parent, a person in the patient's household, or a person designated by the patient.
