Section 245. Length of hospitalization

7 AAC 47.245. Length of hospitalization

(a) The maximum number of days of hospitalization payable by the division for an individual recipient is limited to the 50th percentile of the length of hospitalization stay for that particular primary medical or surgical diagnosis involved identified in the Length of Stay by Diagnosis and Operation, Western Region, 1994, which is adopted by reference.

(b) Notwithstanding (a) of this section the division of medical assistance will not pay for more than a total of eight days for a recipient for all hospitalizations in any 12 consecutive month period.

(c) In this section

(1) "hospitalization" includes room, board, and charges for ancillary services;

(2) "ancillary services" include pharmacy, medical and surgical supplies, laboratory, radiology, respiratory services, physical therapy, and operating room services.
