7 AAC 44.030. Eligibility determination

(a) The division will, in its discretion, process applications for heating assistance in the order in which they are received.

(b) The division will award only one heating assistance under 7 AAC 44.080 per household for applications received during the period set out in 7 AAC 44.020.

(c) The division will make an eligibility determination and will mail a notice of the determination to the applicant as soon as possible, but no later than 45 calendar days after receipt of the completed application by the heating assistance office in Juneau.

(d) The division will expedite an eligibility determination, and award assistance to an eligible applicant, within 18 hours after receipt of a completed application in the heating assistance office in Juneau if

(1) the applicant has requested expedited service;

(2) the household's gross monthly income is less than the household's shelter costs;

(3) the applicant has suffered, or will suffer within 48 hours, termination of fuel or home heating-related utility services; and

(4) the division has verified the application as required by 7 AAC 44.041.

(e) The division will make an eligibility determination and will authorize heating assistance to an eligible applicant, within 10 days after receipt of a completed application in the heating assistance office in Juneau, if an applicant meets the requirements in 7 AAC 44.055.
