(a) The department may enroll a prematernal home as a Medicaid provider to provide transportation and accommodation services if the prematernal home is licensed to provide lodging, meals, and medically-related transportation to
(1) a pregnant woman; or
(2) a woman with a child less than one year of age.
(b) All transportation and accommodation services provided to a recipient by a prematernal home must be approved by the department before the time that the service is provided. Requests for an authorized stay of over 30 days must be accompanied by written medical justification for the stay.
(c) The department will pay for services provided by a prematernal home to a pregnant woman in the community where delivery of the baby is planned if a qualified physician or other licensed health care provider recommends those services.
(d) The department will pay for accommodation services provided by a prematernal home to a woman with a child less than one year of age if the overnight stay is necessary to provide medical services to the recipient.
