(a) Only department employees authorized by the department to do so in the course of their official duties may have access to information related to the registration status of an individual under AS 17.37.010 or this chapter.
(b) The department will provide information regarding the registration status of an individual only to a police officer or prosecuting attorney employed by the state or a local law enforcement agency who requires that information for the purpose of verifying that an individual who has presented a registry identification card is in lawful possession of that card.
