(a) A physician has final responsibility for the preparation of methadone for administering or furnishing to patients. A pharmacist or a registered nurse, or licensed practical nurse may prepare methadone for patients under the physician's direction.
(b) A pharmacist, registered nurse, or licensed practical nurse may administer methadone to patients under the direction of a physician.
(c) Program personnel are responsible for maintaining accurate records of methadone supplies.
(d) Adequate security over stocks of methadone must be maintained as required by 21 U.S.C. 827, amended February 2000, and adopted by reference.
