Section 990. Definitions

6 AAC 25.990. Definitions

In this chapter, unless the context requires otherwise,

(1) "Accu-Vote" means the state's electronic ballot tabulation system;

(2) "circulating sponsor" means a person circulating an initiative for the purpose of gathering signatures.

(3) "disabled voter" means a person who is unable to get to the polling place because of severe illness, age, or disability;

(4) "director" means the director of elections;

(5) "division" means the division of elections;

(6) "election official" means a qualified voter appointed by a regional elections supervisor to assist in the conduct of an election;

(7) "reregistration" means the submission of a registration form by a voter whose registration was inactivated on the master register maintained under AS 15.07, and the director's reactivation of that registration in accordance with that chapter; for purposes of this paragraph, "a voter whose registration was inactivated" does not include a voter whose registration was inactivated under AS 15.07.130 and whose ballot may be counted under AS 15.15.198 .

Editor's note: Effective December 15, 1999, the division of elections adopted, as an emergency regulation, 6 AAC 25.990(2) , a definition of "circulating sponsor." The emergency regulation would have first appeared in print in the emergency regulations portion of 6 AAC in Register 153 (April 2000). The emergency regulation was made permanent on February 29, 2000, in time to also be included in Register 153 (in the "permanent" regulations portion of 6 AAC). To avoid confusion, the original emergency regulation was not printed in the emergency regulations portion of 6 AAC in Register 153 (April 2000).
