(a) The department will operate the program through grant agreements with eligible communities as described in 3 AAC 160.042. All grant agreements must be for eligible projects as specified in 3 AAC 160.052 and shall be awarded in accordance with 3 AAC 160.072.
(b) Each fiscal year, the commissioner will, at his or her discretion, set aside up to 10 percent of the money appropriated by the legislature for the rural development assistance program, to respond to the economic development and planning and technical assistance applications submitted by eligible communities under 3 AAC 160.042.
(c) The maximum award from any money set aside under (b) of this section is $15,000 each fiscal year to any one eligible community. Total costs requested or awarded each fiscal year under AS 44.33.740 to any one eligible community may not exceed $100,000.
