(a) The initial step placement of a deputy head of a principal department shall be no less than "A" step and no greater than "F" step, Range 28.
(b) If the employee was a State of Alaska employee before appointment as the deputy head of a principal department, and was receiving a salary higher than that established for the deputy head position, the employee shall be placed at Range 28, step F and be paid at an exception rate of pay equal to the employee's former salary.
(c) A deputy head of a principal department is eligible for longevity increases in keeping with the statutory provisions of AS 39.27.022 .
