AS 17.20.015. Shared Ownership of Milk-Producing Animals; Raw Milk.
(a) An individual who has an ownership interest in a milk-producing animal may pay or reimburse another individual owner of the animal
the costs incurred to
(1) board, milk, and care for the animal; and
(2) share raw milk and raw milk products produced from the milk with other owners of the animal.
(b) A part owner of a shared milk-producing animal may share raw milk or a raw milk product produced from the milk of the animal only
(1) with another owner of the animal who has provided the part owner with at least two means of contacting the other owner in the
event of a foodborne illness;
(2) if the raw milk or raw milk product is produced exclusively by the owners of the animal; and
(3) if the raw milk or raw milk product is provided directly from one owner to another owner.
(c) The department may not restrict or impose a requirement on the sharing or transfer of raw milk or a raw milk product between the
owners of a milk-producing animal that is in addition to the provisions of this section.
(d) In this section,
(1) “raw milk” means milk that is not pasteurized;
(2) “raw milk product” means raw milk or a product or byproduct of raw milk.
