AS 08.68.230. Use of Title and Abbreviation.
- (a) A person licensed to practice registered nursing in the state may use the title "registered nurse," and the abbreviation "R.N."
- (b) A person licensed to practice practical nursing in the state may use the title "licensed practical nurse" and the
abbreviation "L.P.N."
- (c) [Repealed, § 15 ch 29 SLA 2014.]
- (d) A person who holds a temporary permit to practice as a licensed practical nurse shall use the title "Temporary
Licensed Practical Nurse" and the abbreviation "TLPN."
- (e) A person licensed to practice advanced practice registered nursing in the state may use the title “advanced
practice registered nurse” and the abbreviation “APRN.”
- (f) A person licensed to practice advanced practice registered nursing in the state as a
- (1) certified registered nurse anesthetist may use the title “certified registered nurse anesthetist” and the
abbreviation “CRNA”;
- (2) certified clinical nurse specialist may use the title “clinical nurse specialist” and the abbreviation “CNS”;
- (3) certified nurse practitioner may use the title “certified nurse practitioner” and the abbreviation “CNP”; or
- (4) certified nurse midwife may use the title “certified nurse midwife” and the abbreviation “CNM.”
