AS 14.25.012. Purpose and Effective Date.
- (a) The purpose of this chapter is to encourage qualified teachers to enter and remain in service with participating
employers by establishing a system for the payment of retirement, disability, and death benefits to or on behalf of the
members.
- (b) The system created became effective as of July 1, 1955, at which time contributions by the participating employers and
members began.
